Fresh blackberry, plum, savory herbs. Broad, rich mid-palate, which is accented by fresh acidity and soft tannins. The fruit source of the 2018 Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir was primarily the Sta. Rita Hills, with a splash of Santa Maria Valley providing an additional layer of aromatic finesse and vibrancy. Whole cluster fermentations were employed judiciously to add earthy complexity to the dark, ripe flavors of the fruit. Destemmed fermentations showed pure and vibrant fruit almost instantly, making cellaring and blending the 2018 vintage a true joy. The 2018 vintage was very friendly to winemakers in Santa Barbara County, and we were rewarded with a complex, yet immediately enjoyable wine that is quintessential Santa Barbara County.
