Mohua Sauvignon Blanc 2018
|Region||New Zealand, Marlborough|
Lime sherbet, grapefruit and passionfruit flavors are succulent and juicy, with details of lemon verbena that reverberate on the finish. Drink now. 55,000 cases made, 55,000 cases imported.
This Sauvignon is a little reductive and oniony at first but it's also highly perfumed and floral, with lime leaf and blossoms alongside peach and lychee fruit. The palate, however, doesn't hold together as well; 2018 made for an even trickier vintage than 2017, thanks mainly to the presence of two ex-tropical cyclones right at harvest. It's slightly spritzy with bracing acidity and fruit that veers on the sour side, feeling a little overworked and underripe.
